Egyptian Nights II

Hello Everyone!

My sincerest apologies for taking forever to post this blog entry….as you can appreciate, the last month has been manic, what with starting back as a midwife, and my 30th, and the show….

Thankyou to everyone who sent birthday cards and gifts, it was a lovely day we spent at the spa, indulging ourselves in last minute pampering before the event of the year!

Egyptian Nights II was….well….i have no words…even now! I remember we had a hiccup at the venue, which put us 2 hours behind schedule, which meant i had an hour at home to change, and my husband had to fork feed me food whilst i tried to make my hair look less like i had been electricuted! Followed by..trying to put my make-up on in the car, then being pounced on my Zaphira’s Iris and Sylvia, who took one look at me and obviously realised I seriously needed help, and then both proceeded to complete the hair and make-up transformation!

Apart from that, It all ran pretty smoothly, the costumes change were done in time..despite Sarah Fay nearly running on stage with a hanger stuck to her back, my red top hanging on to me for dear life….(Joyce had to stand in the wings with a safety pin …. just in case!) people getting lost, (plackards were somehow forgotten to be put outside), half the programmes not being given out, (did people think they had to pay for them?!?!?) and the sound being a little loud in the first half for some (this was turned down during the interval when we were made aware, but it was perfect on the stage and in the lower segment, so we had no idea).

All the dancers did a tremendous job, there were some funny moments, (Sea Gypsies Alison losing one of her scarves and carrying on regardless – what showwomenship!) But all the girls , (and my brother Shane on POI) worked their socks off and we had alot of positive feedback from all who attended. Most of which felt the show to be of an incredibly professional standard, and could not decide what they liked the most because they were faced with so much high quality talent! Many students who attended have talked of little else ever since! Thanks to all the helpers, (too many to mention), and especially the dancers, I wouldn’t have a show to put together without those who inspire me to create for them, and certainly wouldn’t be doing this without all your support!

For those who couldn’t make it, dvd’s are available from Kay Fenton on www.kayfenton.co.uk 50 copies have already been sold, and the quality is outstanding, including documentary footage of rehearsals and interviews with the dancers. Dvd’s are £13 – and are well worth every penny. A Showreel will be put together in early 2010.

Also, Hannah Nichols kindly donated her time to photographing the show once more – (see photo above), and I will gradually begin to put her pics on here for you all to see, but should you wish to get photos – please contact her directly on www.hannahnichols.com

Finally, the last class for the year is wed 9th Dec – to resume on wed 6th Jan. The Zaphira / Il Nana meal is on wed 16th Dec at Meze from 7.30pm.

We also have the Sea Gypsies hafla to look forward to this weekend, and Fantasia next week – more about that to follow…
