Hello everyone! How busy this Summer has been so far!

Thanks to all the gals for being so incredibly patient with the class time changes and schedule, i can assure you all that we are settled now!

Back in April was Uska Dara’s “Shimmy Shimmy” hafla, and despite my cold and sinus infection, was a brilliant night! il Nana were the 2nd dance in with their bollywood fusion peice, the girls were so colourful, and there were no mistakes, just smiles! At the end of the first set the Ramzy Dance Co (RDC) did their first peice. I borrowed one of Zaphira Sylvia’s costumes, and low and behold, my veil only got caught on it during the routine! I kept going, and no-one seemed to notice! i performed “Just like that” in the 2nd half, which i had recently created for the Aziza showcase, and is by far my favourite peice, i get so emotional dancing to it, and i even made someone cry (in a good way i think!) Finally, Zaphira performed their first classical peice to Hossam’s “the pearl in my heart” and it was fantastic, (despite Bex having to hold onto her veil with a hair band!) Thankyou so much to all the RDC and uska Dara girls for a fab night!

In May was the grand unveiling of the RDC proper (picture featured), with a big show at Reading as part of Hossam and Serena’s world tour with their famous Egyptian Orchestra. I never get tired by watching Serena execute the music with such effortless expression, I feel so inspired and privaleged to be dancing alongside these amazing women. I performed a Bedoin tribal number, (by the end the trousers were around my knees, but my dress covered it!), a flamenco peice, the finale and drumming, it was an exhausting, but brilliant evening, and i want MORE!!!!

Finally, it is the INTERNATIONAL BELLYDANCE MANIA 2010 competition this Friday. I keep doing silly things, like putting my neck out, or getting caught up in the veil, I feel tired, have no time to pack and have three days to go…wish me luck!

Don’t forget the GRAND HAREM AFTERNOON is 2 weeks away, see you in Herstmonceux!
