Spring 2011

Heya! I am on an annual leave week and decided it was about time I let everyone know what i’ve been up to over the past few months…
The Winter Harem afternoon was well attended and featured some lovely performances from students and professionals alike. This was my first performance post operatively, and i took it easy i promise! Also Jamilla and Robyn from il Nana did their first ever solos! Both incredibly different, but i felt proud all the same…Well done girls!
2011 started brilliantly with Silk Route on Sunday 30th January. My Dance school was featured in the student showcase, including an amazing performance by Zaphira’s Sarah Fay, (albeit totally last minute!), 5 of the Il Nana girls, (Robyn, Jamilla, Katrina, Judith and Linda) performing “Bay City Shimmy” and a rather small Zaphira (Tina, Sarah Fay and Kathleen) performing an old favourite, “Tragedy”. I aired my “Enta Omri I” for the first time, which i loved, and then me and David Kallo performed our “Flamenco Alegrias” + improvisation for the first time. It was such an amazing night, we have been asked back in September this year!
Just a week later we had the Ramzy Dance Company Show “Dance Queens of the Nile – Conexxions” at the Bloomsbury Theatre. I still can’t believe i performed on a London stage! Despite some slight costume malfunctions, and makeup that took me 2 days to get off….!!! This was a night to remember! I have seen previews of the pics and we looked awesome! We are set to tour with this show…dates to be announced soon!
So, what’s coming up? This weekend, I am performing with the RDC at Majma in Glastonbury. Next week, me and David will be performing at the “Tribally Inspired” Show held in Essex by Morai, featuring Carolena Nericcio of Fat Chance Bellydance, Hilde and Phil Thorntons music. Tickets available from www.moraitribal.com. Plus there’s Brighton Orient the next day, and the Shimmy showcase in Uckfield at the beginning of April. So much dancing i can’t contain myself!xxxxxx
